Nigerian Traditional Engagement Session: Adaeze & Nwabueze
I fell even more in love with Adaeze and Nwabueze after I received the pictures from their engagement session. Planning a wedding with Adaeze has been pure joy; because she is a sweetheart, she is down to earth, she knows what she wants and she has some amazing fashion sense. Little did I know that Nwabueze's fashion is equally as important to him.
To celebrate my time with them to date and the amount of work that went into making this engagement session a success, and their upcoming Nigerian Traditional Wedding, I thought it would be the perfect time to share some pics from the shoot.
As an African woman myself, I love the fashion. We get dressed in cultural fashion for special occasions, but when it comes down to your wedding day, it is on a whole other level. I was happy to see that Adaeze and Nwabueze incorporated the Igbo culture into their engagement session.
Notice the beaded details on her head, her neck, shoulders and hands. These coral beads she chose turned her into an Igbo princess and I love it! Nwabueze then took it a few steps further by adding the Red hat and beads as well.
When a couple is in love, it is immediately evident and you can feel it, smell it and you fall in love with them as well. The smile on their faces in this picture is exactly what you feel when you are in their presence. They excude care, love and pure joy when interacting with each other.
Adaeze was so detailed in planning the outfits and props for the eengagement session, down to the minor detail of incorporating a mortar (used in Nigeria, mostly in the village, to blend and mix herbs and spices) into the traditional shots. These pics brought me joy, reminded me of the village, reminded me of the importance of celebrating your culture and incorporating elements of your culture into the important moments in your life.
Downtown Houston was the perfect location for this shoot, because with it's beautiful structures, parks and beautiful skyline, the engagement session started off on the right foot, no pun intended.
Notice that both Adaeze and Nwabueze went barefoot for this Nigerian traditional shoot...YASSS!
Fashion is exciting, wedding planning and weddings are exciting. But most important and exciting aspect of life is meeting your soulmate and falling in love. Don't you just love how her hands join together to form a heart on his back. LOVE IS ALL THAT MATTERS.
